Gamescom Opening Night Live returned on August 25, 2026, bringing another wave of announcements, reveals and sneak peeks from the world of video games. Hosted by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley, it is the eighth iteration of the show, which coincides with the opening of the Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany.
Here’s everything announced during the event:
Pre-Show
- The Worms franchise returns with Worms Galactic Tactics plus the announcement that a new traditional Worms game is in development
- Train Sim World 7 releases on September 15
- Rollercoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, a new entry in the long-dormant Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise, is “coming soon” to Early Access.
- Open world monster catching Aniimo got a new trailer and a release date: September 16, 2026
- We got a look at Genigods: Nezha, a stylish third person action RPG rooted in the chaos of ancient Chinese creation mythology
- Perceptum, a new first person supernatural horror game starring an elderly women, releases in early 2027.
- Acornia: Mirror Worlds is a new hybrid 2D/3D platformer from the developers of Tinykin.
- We got a new story trailer for Valor Mortis, the first person souls-like where you play as Napoleon Bonaparte in a supernatural France.
- Tankrat, a new 3D tank combat game, releases in January 2027
- Murals is a new isometric roguelike action adventure game from the developers from Disney Illusion Island
- Humankind II, the sequel to the Civilization-inspired 4x strategy game originally released in 2021, will release in 2027.
- Elta: Defy the Gods is a new sci-fi action adventure game releasing in 2027 from Dreamscaper developer Afterburner Studios.
- Age Twisters is a new co-op puzzle platformer releasing in 2027.
- We got a new look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword, releasing on September 4, 2026. An expanded demo is also available now.
- Mariachi Legends, the stylish Mexican-inspired Metroidvania, releases on April 27, 2027.

- Nodus Fall, a new co-op dark fantasy action RPG from Genshin Impact developer Hoyoverse, was revealed.
- Ubisoft revealed Rainbow Six Tactics, an isometric, turn-based strategy game based on the popular shooter franchise from the team behind the Mario + Rabbids series.
- Gears of War E-Day got a new story trailer highlighting the prequel’s main villain.
- ANANTA, the free-to-play Grand Theft Auto and anime-inspired open world RPG, got a lengthy gameplay trailer and release date: January 15, 2027.
- Silent Hill Townfall got a new trailer, revealing its award-winning and star-studded cast
- Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy got a new trailer two days ahead of its release date
- We got a new look at Sea of Remnants, a pirate-themed RPG with a striking art style.
- Crimson Desert Enhanced, a new update for the popular open world RPG, was announced; it adds new story content and improved localization, among other things.
- Action RPG Tides of Annihilation got a new trailer debuting Angela Sant’Albano as the game’s protagonist.
- Lofsong, a Journey-inspired 3D puzzle platformer, was revealed.
- Mega Man: Dual Override got a new gameplay trailer, along with a skin collaboration with Capcom’s 2026 hit, Pragmata.
- Rayman Legends Retold gave us a look at one of a few brand new music stages being added to the remake: Los Del Rio’s “Macarena”.
- PUBG: Ded Net is a new post-apocalyptic take on the once-popular battle royale game.

- Control Resonant got a stylish new trailer showing off Hiss-infested Manhattan and more of the game’s combat.
- The Blood of Dawnwalker showed off more of its The Witcher-inspired story and vampire action.
- Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, the real-time strategy game set in the popular fantasy world, got a new trailer.
- Dust: Origins is a new sci-fi isometric action game from Airship Syndicate, the developers of Darksiders Genesis.
- Exodus, the Mass Effect-inspired sci-fi RPG produced by and starring Matthew McConaughey, got a new character-focused trailer and a release date: April 7, 2027.
- Warlock, the upcoming action RPG set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, got a gameplay trailer along with the reveal of Resident Evil Village’s Maggie Robertson as the game’s antagonist.
- 1001: Threads of Mizan is a new Arabian Nights-themed action adventure game set in a futuristic desert world.
- Silver Palace: House of Greed is a new anime-inspired action RPG set in a sci-fi Victorian world
- Monster Hunter Outlanders is a new mobile spinoff based on Capcom’s popular RPG series.
- We got a developer interview and a new look at Metro: 2039, the latest entry in the long-running shooter series.
- Snoop Dogg was revealed as the latest elusive target in Hitman: World of Assassination
- Aion 2, the sequel to the action MMO from NCSoft got an action-packed new trailer and a release date: October 5, 2026.
- Afterworld is a grand strategy game set in a Max Max-esque post apocalyptic version of the United States.
- Hoyoverse also revealed Petit Planet, a cozy life simulation game that draws inspiration from Animal Crossing.
- Co-op shooter sequel Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 got a new trailer and a surprise release date: today. The Switch 2 version of the game is set to release on September 29, 2026.
- Amsterdam: 1666 got a new trailer showing off its world and witch powers to coincide with its early access release.
- Showa American Story is an over-the top third person action adventure game in the style of the Lollipop Chainsaw series
- Road Kings is a truck driving simulation game with intense weather effects releasing on March 11, 2027.
- Rock Band-inspired Stage Tour got a new trailer, showing off licensed tracks from Metallica, Paramore, Red Hot Chili Peppers (and more) along with its own set of peripherals. It releases December 10, 2026.
- We got another look at Crazy Taxi World Tour, which releases some time in 2027.
- Turok: Origins got a new trailer showing more of the dino-themed shooter reboot releasing in Spring 2027.
- Gravhounds is a space themed survival crafting game releasing in early access later this year.
- LEGO Skylines is a LEGO-themed citybuilder from Paradox Interactive
- Transport Fever 3, also from Paradox Interactive, got a trailer showing off its slick train action
- Sci-fi co-op action game Exterminauts got a debut trailer showing off some fast-paced bug-killing action.
- Path of Exile II 1.0 releases on December 11, 2026
- Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is getting a remake including all of the original game’s expansions.
- We got another look at NoLaw, a cyberpunk-themed first person shooter from the developers of The Ascent.
- Project Zeta is a new hero shooter published by Krafton
- We got a reveal for Cinder City, a new futuristic MMO tactical third-person shooter from NCSoft.
- We got another look at Ontos, another original sci-fi horror game from the creators of Soma, releasing in 2027.
- Pony Island 2: Panda Circus is the followup to Inscription, featuring a handful of YouTube stars and an irreverent collection of minigames.
- Zoopunk, the newest action game starring anthropomorphic animals from the creators of F.I.S.T: Forged In Shadow Torch, got a new trailer.
- There Are No Ghosts At the Grand, a story based renovation game in the style of the Powerwash Simulator games with horror and musical inspiration, got a new trailer.
- Roco Kingdom, the popular Chinese monster catching MMO, is coming to the United States and is getting a closed beta later this year.
- The Defiant is a new World War II shooter that takes place on Chinese fronts in the war.
- Tarae The Unbound, a Diablo-inspired action RPG, was revealed
- Like or Die is a team-based survival shooter where you play as a streamer livestreaming their matches.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation got a new story trailer showcasing the story and the fearsome Weapons.
- Songs of the Past, the newest expansion for the decade-old The Witcher 3, got a new trailer and gameplay reveal alongside an announcement for The Witcher 3 Remastered.
